We want your family holiday to be more than just a change of scene. As parents ourselves, we know that relaxed, happy children are the key to a successful family holiday.
Packing for family holidays can be a nightmare and if you take everything they need there’s barely enough space left for you. To help with this we have a selection of baby and toddler equipment for you to borrow free of charge - just let us know what you need.
Lapwing House is ideal for children and we have highlighted a few reasons to why:
We can also arrange baby sitting if pre booked.
Here are just a few of our recommendations of family friendly places in The Peak District:
There are three popular trails perfect for children to cycle, you can hire bikes with child trailers and seats. Both the High Peak and Tissington Trails (10 minutes drive from Lapwing House) are easily accessed and provide over 30 miles of flat, traffic-free cycling and walking.
The Monsal Trail follows the path of the former Midland Railway from Blackwell Mill cottages to Coombs Viaduct, about 1km past the former Bakewell station - a distance of about 20km. For the most part the trail follows the path of the River Wye, which means it offers some spectacular scenery. The Peak District National Park have recently spent £2.5m on re-opening the tunnels so it is possible to walk, cycle or horse-ride right the way along the trail.
There's loads of walking to be enjoyed but if you have a buggy this website is useful
Watersports and Leisure park - great place to walk, cycle, hire boats/canoes and large childrens playground www.carsingtonwater.com
